The Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is a landmark all-in-one zoom for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, achieving something the photography world has rarely seen: a constant f/2.8 aperture across a 28-105mm zoom range. Where most zoom lenses at this aperture top out at 70mm or 85mm, the Sigma Art extends the telephoto reach to 105mm without compromising the maximum aperture, giving photographers a single lens that covers wide-angle, standard, and short telephoto focal lengths for landscapes, street, events, weddings, and portraiture.
The optical formula is built to Art Line standards, incorporating SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and aspherical elements that control chromatic aberration and distortion across the full zoom range — a particularly demanding challenge when maintaining constant f/2.8 from 28mm to 105mm. A 12-bladed rounded diaphragm produces the smooth, circular bokeh that makes this lens exceptional for portrait work at the longer end of its range, and Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses flare and ghosting under the mixed and directional lighting common in event and wedding photography. Minimum focus distance is an impressive 40cm across the entire zoom range, enabling close-up creative work that most zoom lenses at this specification cannot match.
Autofocus is driven by an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor that delivers fast, near-silent, and precise focus movement — equally suited to tracking moving subjects in burst-mode stills and maintaining smooth, quiet focus pulls in cinema and video production.
